In the second half Kym Franklin gave an outstanding performance of real american gospel – with the 45-headed masschoir she completely gripped the audience. Kym Franklin, the black lady with incredible strong voice not only impressed by her engagement and power – her performance on stage and her powerful songs were testimonials of faith from deep within.  Drops of sweat and tears of emotions rolled over her cheeks.  On the song «Amen» and «Oh happy day» she invited the audience to sing with her and got endless applause and standing ovations. ”

March 12, 1938 – September 26, 2011

His heart wrenching, gospel compositions will live forever.

Dear Rev. Dixon,

I remember singing, “I Love to Praise His Name,” at church as a child and had no clue that you had written that song!  What’s even more amazing,   I had no clue that I would eventually be singing that very song (among many others) with you on stage, in foreign countries years later!    The moments we spent together on and off the stage were priceless, from performing at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland to singing with Mavis Staples in Chicago and EVERYTHING in between.  You exposed me to new worlds, cultures, people and experiences that have shaped every inch of my life.  You showed me that there IS more to life and as long as I have life and breath…I have work to do.  I’ll never forget the speech you gave us in Denmark or that time in London when it was just you, me and Miss Elsa having the coolest conversation in the lobby of our hotel the night before our performance at the Greenbelt Festival.   Thanks for taking such good care of me.  I have always looked up to you Rev. Dixon, you were a father figure to me.   Well Done Good and Faithful Servant…Well Done.

Kym Franklin currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee where she is Assistant Professor of Modern Music  (Vocal Division) at Visible Music College.  She has a B. A. in Music and has earned her M.M. in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance from one of the best universities in the world, Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University!
