KYM FRANKLIN is a vibrant and gifted vocal artist, vocal pedagogue, choral conductor and composer; offering over 30 years of experience in the fields of music performance and music education.
SUMMARY
She is uniquely equipped to effectively perform diverse musical genres, from classical to gospel, while carefully maintaining their stylistic integrity, interpretation and technique. Kym is equally experienced in training students from various cultures, backgrounds, vocal categories, ranges, skill levels and genres. She is a falcon soprano whose passion for the human spirit, extensive knowledge of the human voice and understanding of the synergistic relationship between the two has set her apart as a professional vocalist and instructor.
EDUCATION
Kym was awarded her M. M. in Vocal Performance/Vocal Pedagogy (with emphasis in Choral Conducting) from Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois, in January 2000. She graduated from Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Illinois, in 1996 with a B.A. in Music.
PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE
In November of 2000, Kym was blessed with the opportunity to tour Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Denmark with gospel great Jesse Dixon and the Chicago Gospel Singers. During this tour a representative of VME Musik (Germany) took notice of Kym’s singing style. As a result, she was asked to be the featured artist for VME’s European Gospel News tours 2001-2003 as well as Art and Act’s European Gospel Tours 2004-2008. During the summer of 2004, Kym performed as the understudy for Ms. Avery Somers (Nell) in the musical Ain’t Misbehavin at the Lincolnshire Marriott Theatre, in Lincolnshire, IL.
Kym has shared the stage with such noted artists as Mavis Staples, Theresa Davis of The Emotions, The Plain White T’s, Company of Thieves, Jessy Dixon, Chuck Berry, Ko Ko Taylor, Max Weinberg, Elsa Harris, Ethel Holloway, Al Green, MC Hammer, Taylor Dane, Bill Cosby, Sister Sledge, R Kelly and the O’ Jays.

Kym stays busy teaching and performing on stage, in the studio and on regular international tours. She is pursuing opportunities that will allow her to live her simple but powerful mission; to uplift, inspire and remind everyone of their purpose in this life in preparation for the next.
